What are the spiritual implications of Fibromyalgia?
I got interested in "Fibromyalgia" from reading a very good article
in the "Anne Arundel Medical Center Vital Signs Spring 2000, Volume
13, Number 1". I was interested, because this was a disease, defined
by not being able to find any known connection to any physical diseases.
Then I noted that the patterns and pictures of the disease symptoms, had
spiritual implications. From the above article I found a link to similar
information: http://bewell.healthgate.com/hic/wcon/wcon-76.asp#anchor234678
First, Fibromyalgia happens to mainly women between 30 and 60.
This is the natural time that mid life crisis and menopause and spiritual rebirth
can happen. Then the symptoms continue to be interesting. One of the major
symptoms is points of pain on the body. The points form a pattern. They
are spiritual connection points to the body. The same points show up in many
healing systems, like acupuncture.

What are the points where there is pain with Fibromyalgia?
They had an excellent picture with the article I referenced above. But they
did not have one with the article they referenced on line. So, I will describe them
here. First there is the left and right side of the neck in the front above the collar
bone and in the back of the neck below the hairline. The second set is on the left
and right side of the chest below the collar bone and on the upper back where the
neck and shoulders join. The third set is between the shoulder blades on the left
and right of the spine without any points identified for the front. The fourth set was
on the inside of either arm at the elbows. The fifth set was on the left and right side
of the lower back right below the waist. The sixth set was right under the hip bones
on the left and right buttocks. The seventh set was on the left and right kneecaps.
There may be some differences for men. I know that I had a pain like this as
a teen on my outer left elbow that has come and gone from time to time. Also I
know that there are points lower down on my chest.

What are some of the characteristics of this condition?
One of the interesting characteristic to me is that the pain moves. That is a characteristic
of spirit. It moves. It rustles our leaves in our tree of life. Another characteristic is that
treatments tend to be unique to each person. Again a characteristic in common with
spirit.
It took until 1990 for "Fibromyalgia" to be declared as syndrome by the American
College of Rheumatology. They require that at least 11 of the 18 points I described above
be intensely painful when pressed. To me that is really funny. When someone had 10
points of intense pain and were told that they did not qualify for this diagnosis. I would
say that 1 point of intense pain would be enough to qualify for a level of 1 out of 18 levels
of this syndrome. Pain is pain, and there are levels of pain. Something that some doctors
need to work on understanding.

What are some other symptoms of "Fibromyalgia"?
Fatigue and sleep disturbances, depression, migraine headaches, dizziness, tingling or
numbness in the hands and feet, gastrointestinal symptoms like irritable bowel syndrome
and bladder spasms, hypervigilance, and amplifications of sensations like light, sounds, touch.
All of these symptoms can be seen as spirit, healing. That is for those that are willing to
take responsibility and to be grateful. For those that see this as spirit hurting, they are in their
ignorance, blaspheming spirit. Extra sensitivity to sensations is a manifestation of spirit. Some
times spirit shows up as tingling, dizziness or numbness moving through us. Some times we
panic and freeze the movements of spirit and get stuck in what ever we were in. Fatigue and
sleep disturbances, depression, and migraine headaches could just be temporary symptoms
on our way to healing and recovery, when we are ready to shift our attitudes to a higher
altitude.

What can be done to facilitate Recovery?
First, all of the techniques that facilitate spiritual recovery help in some way. Different
things work, for different people. Things like exercise, stretching, tai-chi, yoga and the like
can help to build stamina and body awareness.
Sleep is a major factor. That is because the symptoms can be produced by disrupting
sleep for a few nights in a row. Why is that? Because our spirit can not balance out things
with us in the way. Physically there are low levels of serotonin that produce symptoms like
anxiety, migraine headaches, depression and gastrointestinal upsets. Increasing serotonin
by diet, pills, and or therapy can help. Finding what works for you is important.

I started my daily page, because it is useful for me to look for some recovery tip or secret each day for my spiritual growth. we and I only need one secret to work on and let it work on me each day. They are secrets because they are usually the opposite of what the majority of society teaches. They must be secret because they are not commonly used. A friend of mine once said "Common Sense is not much in Common.". Now that I have grandchildren I am also writing for them. I would have really liked for my grandparents to have passed on what they learned.
